Conrad I. Sanwick, Westby, WI/formerly Janesville  (1937 - 2012)

Conrad I. Sanwick, age 75, died at his rural Westby home on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012. He was born on Feb. 12, 1937, in Viroqua, to Tilman and Anna (Eide) Sanwick. He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1956. On Aug. 2, 1956, he married Terrill “Terri” Lewison at Waukon, IA. They raised their family in Janesville, where he worked for General Motors, retiring after over 30 years service after getting injured in an accident in the plant. In 1988, they moved to their farmette at rural Westby. He enjoyed golf and took a lot of pride in his lawn work. He also enjoyed playing pool. He loved playing practical pranks on his grandkids, and great-grandkids. He would do anything to put a smile on someone’s face. Conrad had served in the Wisconsin National Guard, was a member of Viroqua Eagles Aerie No. 2707, and Local Union No. 95.
Conrad is survived by his wife, Terri; three daughters: Cathy (Arvid) Hanson, Kim (Stephen) Sailsbery, and Ann Marie Morkrid, all of Westby. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four sisters: Ingeberg Henden of Great Barrington, MA, Kay (Punky) Swanson, Paula (Jim) Olson, Barb (Ed) Olson, all of Viroqua; two brothers, Ole (Beth) Sanwick and Tilman Sanwick,Jr., both of Viroqua; a special sister, Carrie Jo (Karl) Baumgartner of Genoa; a sister-in-law, Linda Sanwick of Westby; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Anna Marie Sanwick; three brothers: Richard “Dick” Sanwick, Peter “Peewee” Sanwick, David Sanwick; a brother-in-law, Joe Kurtz; infant daughter, Tabitha Sanwick; and infant granddaughter, Anita Hanson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the THORSON FUNERAL HOME in Viroqua with Pastor Pete Beckstrand officiating. Burial will be in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call at the FUNERAL HOME on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
