Lorraine Houge, Milton, WI/formerly Edgerton, WI (1921 - 2012)

Mrs. Dale Houge passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Heartwarming House in Milton. The former Lorraine Armit was born Feb. 25, 1921, at the then “Auntie Lockwood” hospital in Edgerton, the daughter of Harry and Tillie (Williams) Armit. She graduated from Edgerton High School in 1939, and was married on Aug. 10, 1940, to Richard Dale Houge of Edgerton. She was the great-great-granddaughter of the first white settler in the Edgerton area, William Bliven. Lorraine was employed as a secretary at the Highway Trailer Co., the Edgerton Middle School, and for over 40 years at the United Methodist Church. She also worked at the Edgerton Store while in high school and was a Cub Scout den mother. Lorraine was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Ruth Circle, VFW Auxiliary, and Edgerton Senior Citizens. She and Dale and their family enjoyed many vacations in northern Wisconsin, and anniversaries in Door County. Neighbors and friends were always welcome at the many cookouts in their back yard.
Survivors include a sister, Jeanette (Lowell) Houge; three sons: Richard (Linda) of Williams Bay, Thomas (Sue) of Edgerton, and James (Barbara) of Batavia, IL; five grandchildren: Alison, Andrew, and Ryan Houge, Tony Santona, and Keith Spath; one great-grandson, Maxwell Houge; nephews: Steven (Doreen), Robert, Timothy (Denise), and William (Julie) Houge; nieces: Mary Houge, Margaret Lumm, and Jane Davis-Wood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her parents; mother and father-in-law, Richard and Edith May Houge; a sister, Carol Olstad; a brother, Leslie; a niece, Linda Richardson; a nephew, John Houge; a sister-in-law, Ann Houge; brothers-in-law: Vernon and Lowell Houge and Robert Olstad; and cousins: Georgia Peterson, Violet Metzker, and Doris Perkin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Edgerton, with visitation from 9 am until the service at 11 am. Pastor Barbara Wells will officiate the service. Burial will be in Fassett Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Edgerton United Methodist Church.
