Eugene R. Sr. Haffely, Janesville, WI  (1928 - 2012)

Eugene R. Haffely Sr., 84, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born March 24, 1928, in St. Paul, MN, the son of the late Thomas and Freida (Peschke) Haffely Sr. He joined the Navy in 1946 and married Shirley Christian on June 19, 1948 upon his return. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, the American Legion, and 40+8. He was a Journeyman tool and dye maker most of his life, love fishing, and was an avid sports fan.
Gene is survived by one sister, LaVerne Kelly; three sons: Eugene ‘Rick” (Pamela) Haffely Jr., Paul Haffely and David Haffely; three daughters: Peggy (Jim) Bestul, Lori (Steve) Wiley and Ann (Bryan) Welch; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; two children, Barbara and Mark; two brothers, Thomas and LeRoy; and two sisters, Carol and Audrey.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville with Father Timmerman officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the start of the service. ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, MILTON are assisting the family with arrangements.
