Walter Allen Richter, age 88, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Agrace Hospice Care, Fitchburg, WI. He was on born May 4, 1924, in Evanston, IL, son of Harry and Evelyn (Stott) Richter. He was raised in Kenilworth, IL, and graduated from Morgan Park High School in Chicago IL. Wally served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and the Air National Guard. While serving in England, he married Patricia Charles of Leicestershire, England.
Wally enjoyed a long career in the automobile business from which he never retired. He was a pilot and owned several small aircraft throughout his life. Walter spent the last 25 years in Florida. His last residence was St. Francis Manor in Vero Beach, FL, where he had many long-time friends.
Wally was known for his wry wit and sense of humor that was evident in the stories he enjoyed sharing about his long and interesting life. He was also an avid billiards player, animal lover and he was an excellent driver.
Walter is survived by his sister, Dorothy (Sis) Thompson; and five of his seven children: Paul Richter of CO, Craig (Ellen) Richter of OR, Sally (Scott) Conway of Janesville, WI, Kurt Richter (Stephan Regul) of IL, and Karl Carlon of CO; also one son in-law, Ray Manthorpe; one daughter in-law, Kim Richter, both of Janesville; his third ex-wife, Vicky Scott of FL; grandchildren: Phillip (Anne) Richter, Patrick (Melanie) Richter, Leah (Brad) Conway-Corso, Clark Conway, Chloe Conway, Ryan (Todd) Anglani, Hayley (Jason) Bowling, Nigel Richter, Kelley Richter, Karley Richter, Courtney Carlon, Corrine Carlon; six great-grandchildren; and many other friends and family.
Walter was preceded in death by one sister, Ann; his children, Diane and Nigel; and ex-wives, Patricia and Ursula.
To allow family and friends to gather from afar, a memorial service is planned to be held Dec. 29, 2012, at FULTON CHURCH, Edgerton, WI. ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, EDGERTON are assisting the family with arrangements.
