Merrill “John” R. Rennhack, 80, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, on Jan. 23, 1932, to Harold and Rose Minnie (Heiman). John and Rosemary were married in Watertown, WI, on Sept. 14, 1957.
John served in the US Navy from 1950-54. His passion was carpentry, but he took an inside job with GM for twenty three years, where he was known as the “Black Mallard”. He enjoyed traveling with his family, especially to different resorts. He eventually fulfilled a life long dream of owning a resort in the Northwood’s, Deer Ridge Resort on Island Lake for fourteen years. John enjoyed fishing, carpentry, making stained glass, bicycling, canoeing and skiing. He also was a Sunday School teacher for twenty two years
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; daughter, Merilee (Curt) Olson of Milton; two sons, John (Susan) Rennhack of Milton, and Keith (Mindy) Rennhack of Danvers, IL; six grandchildren: Dana (Adam) Mills, Tyler Olson, Jacob, Rachel, Ava and Cooper Rennhack; two great grandchildren: Nicole and Curtis Mills; two sisters, Doris Wedl, Judy (Nellie) Wegner; and a brother Duke (Lu) Rennhack. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Friends and family may gather at the MANITOWISH WATERS COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at 10 a.m. with Memorial Service following at 11 a.m. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be sent to the Manitowish Waters Community Church.
