Evelyn Marie (Ellen) Mevis, age 91, of Janesville, went to live her eternal life in the waiting arms of her Lord and her beloved husband, Lloyd, on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Cedar Crest, Janesville. She was born in Janesville, on June 13, 1921, the daughter of Peter and Lorene (Ward) Ellen. She was a 1938 graduate of Janesville High School. She married Lloyd Mevis on June 13, 1958, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Janesville. “Evie” was a lifelong Janesville resident, charter member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, long-time employee of Parker Pen, a lover of animals and an avid fan of all Wisconsin sports.
She will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind: her sister, Elmadore Castater; niece, Terri Burnell and her son, Matthew Burnell; nephew, Pete (Jackie) Castater and their daughter, Ann Castater; and other nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at MT. ZION UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Janesville. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made in her honor to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Janesville.
