Judith "DeeDee" Hoeft, Janesville (1960 - 2012)
March 16, 1960 - October 23, 2012
Judith Hoeft, age 52, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at home. She was born in Elkhorn on March 16, 1960, the daughter of Donald A. and Janet (Bullman) Hoeft, Sr. When she was born, her older sister (by 14 months) could not pronounce “Judy” and it came out, as “DeeDee” and that is the name she was forever affectionately known as to her family. She spent her toddler years in Lake Geneva, WI, and came to Janesville in 1966, where she was educated. In 1981, she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where she served until she married and had a child. She lived in several different states over the years and came home to Janesville in 1999. She had been employed by Spacesaver Corporation. DeeDee was a talented seamstress, gardener, cook, and cake decorator. She would send birthday cards and instead of sending just one, she would send three. She was fiercely independent and generous, and was always there for someone in need.
DeeDee is survived by her son, Ben; mother, Janet (Edward Pickett) Leach; sister, Susie (Douglas) Thorp; brother, Thomas Peterson; many friends and her beloved kitty, Lucy. She was preceded in death by her father in 1969; and her brother, Bruce “Bear” Peterson in 1998.
Private family services were held. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family. Lasting Memorials may be made to ECHO, Wilson Breakfast Club, (Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin), or HealthNet of Rock County.
