Duane G. Quam, Edgerton, WI  (1939 - 2012)

Duane G. Quam, 73, of Edgerton, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at the Edgerton Hospital and Health Care Services, with his loving family by his side. He was born on Jan. 23, 1939, in Stoughton, son of the late Nels and Henrietta (Lemke) Quam. He was united in marriage on Oct. 15, 1977, to Linda Gilbertson, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Edgerton.
Duane worked at Swing & Slide, Janesville, and at IGA for over 31 years, before its closing. He enjoyed going to the casino, bowling, and watching his boys play baseball and softball. He also enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers and Badgers, listening to country and western music, 50's and 60's music. Duane was an excellent polka dancer. He had tended bar at several taverns in the area, including the Edgerton TCC, the Carlton and Coachman's. He served in the United States Army. But his special love was spending time with his family and friends.
Duane is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Linda of Edgerton; two sons, Dan Quam of Greenville, SC, and Steve (Jessica) Quam; two grandchildren, Aiden and Aslyn, all of Edgerton; two brothers, Nels (Lawanna) Quam of Edgerton, and Richard (Sharen) Quam of Belleville; special goddaughter, Debbie Fields of Milton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly Maves and Vernaline Drogsvold; and four brothers, Clifford, LaVerne, Willard and Charles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, Edgerton, with Father David Timmerman officiating. Burial will be in Fassett Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at the EHLERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, US HWY 51 S, Edgerton, from 4 until 7 p.m. and at the CHURCH on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Full Military services will be held at the cemetery by the Edgerton Memorial Squad.
