Roland “Rollie” Miller age 87, of Janesville, died on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, on March 22, 1925, the son of Gottfried and Elizabeth (Schild) Miller. He graduated from Custer High School in Milwaukee, and served in the U.S. Army in Tank Battalion 751. Rollie married Irene V. Schiefelbein in Milwaukee, on Jan. 24, 1948. He had lived in Milwaukee, Ireland, and then moved to Janesville, in 1977. He had been employed by Nunn Bush Shoe Company for 40 years and then retired in 1968. Rollie was a member of the VFW Post 1621, and loved golfing and bowling. He enjoyed his McDonald’s coffee clutches and spending time with his friends. He especially loved spending time with his family and his pride and joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roland is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Irene Miller; two daughters, Diane (Tom) Graf of Germantown, WI, and Sharon (Greg) Haas of West Bend, WI; five grandchildren: Scott (Angie) PeCore, Megan (Eric) Becher, Nicole PeCore, Brent Haas and Ryan PeCore; two great-grandchildren, Ava PeCore and Addison Becher; and many nieces, nephew and other extended family and friends; also, Jeff PeCore. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold (Dori) Miller; and sister, Clara Eichman.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Rev. Naomi Garber officiating.
