Peggy Jean Appleman, Janesville, WI (1922 - 2012)

Peggy Jean Appleman, age 90, of Janesville, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Cedar Crest. She was born in Richland County on July 26, 1922, the daughter of Bufford and Opal (Muller) Sandmire. She attended schools in LaFarge, WI. Peggy married Orval Appleman on April 1, 1939, in Waukon, IA. A Janesville area resident since 1947, she was a member of Cargill United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She served on the PTA, participated in Senior bowling, and loved gardening and shopping. “Grandma Peggy” was happiest while cooking and caring for her loving family and friends.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 73 years, Orval; four children: Kathy (Art) Pollard of Janesville, Connie (Gene) Bier of Milton, Beth (Alan) Friedrich of Janesville, and Angela (Terry) Olson of Janesville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Marggie) Sandmire of LaCrosse; and sister-in-law, Gloria Sandmire of Janesville. She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Susan and Jerry Appleman; and a brother, Alva Sandmire.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at CARGILL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH with Rev. Forrest Wells officiating. Interment will be in Plymouth Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, from 1 until 3 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, Janesville.
