David E. Nettekoven, Elkhorn, WI (1928 - 2012)

David E. Nettekoven, 83, formerly of N. Jackson Street, Elkhorn, WI, died early Tuesday morning, Sept. 18, 2012, at Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI. Dave was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Fond Du Lac, WI, the son of the late Lawrence and Cecilia (Michels) Nettekoven. On June 5, 1948, in Oshkosh, WI, he was united in marriage to DeVern “Dee” J. Groff. Dee died Aug. 18, 2007. David and Dee were involved with Lakeland Bakery in Elkhorn, WI, for over 50 years, being the owners for 30 years before their son took over the business, they retired in 1998. He was a graduate of A.I.B. American Institute of Baking in Chicago, IL. He was a member of the Dirty Dozen Baking Organization, and a former member and director of the Wisconsin Bakers Association. David was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Elkhorn, active with the choir. He was a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Dave was an avid golfer and fisherman, enjoyed watching the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers.
Dave is survived by his four children: Kathleen (Richard) Pieters of Burlington, WI, Gregory (Janet) Nettekoven of Elkhorn, WI, David (Nancy) Nettekoven of Hershey, PA, and Diane (Mick Scullin) McVeigh of Watertown, WI; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Florence Hettwer and Mary Ann (Gene) Leonard, both of Fond Du Lac, WI, and Eileen Borndal of Duluth, MN. Dave was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dee; five sisters: Marion, Catherine, Rita, Ruth and Lucille; and one brother, George.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 107 W. Walworth Street, Elkhorn, with Father Oriol Regales officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Elkhorn. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 8:30 until 10 a.m. at HAASE-LOCKWOOD & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 730 N.
