Merceda VanderVeen, Elkhorn, WI  (1923 - 2013)

Merceda VanderVeen, age 89, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Ridgestone Village in Delavan, WI. She was born on Sept. 26, 1923, the daughter of Edmund and Lenora (Bergner) Thomsen. Merceda was joined in marriage to Howard VanderVeen on March 13, 1948, in Delavan, WI. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1998. She was a home maker and a member of the Christian Reform Church in Delavan.
Merceda is survived by her son, Curtis (Libbie) VanderVeen of Elkhorn; five grandchildren: Amanda and John Amsler, Becky Stallings, Brad VanderVeen, and Gregg VanderVeen; three great-grandchildren: Skylar, Daschel, and Harper; two sisters-in-law, Bernice DeWeerd and Pauline Thompson; many nieces and nephews. Merceda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; one daughter, Shari; three sisters: Isabelle, Alyce, and Lillian; and two brothers, Edward and Edmund.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at the CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH in Delavan, WI, with Rev. Dan Rueda officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday at the CHURCH. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan, WI.
