Carl E. Swanson, 87, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on April 4, 1925, in Beloit, the son of Earnest and Ebba (Holm) Swanson. Carl was veteran of the United States Marine Corp., serving with the 1st Marine Air Wing VMB 413. He married Lorraine Kirkpatrick on Nov. 27, 1946, in Beloit. Carl was previously employed for 27 years as a letter carrier with the Beloit Post Office, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Beckman Mill and Beloit Historical Society. Carl loved yard work and going to auctions.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lorraine Swanson of Beloit; three sons: Michael L. (Gloria) Swanson of Johnston, IA, Carl R. Swanson of Madison, WI, and Tim W. Swanson of Beloit; two grandchildren, Alexandra and David Swanson; three great-grandsons: Daniel, David, and Austin; cousin, Esther (Ron) Bartram of Pell, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; two sons, Stephen and Robert Swanson; brother and sister-in-law, Earnest (Ione) Swanson; sisters and brothers-in-law: Ebba (Jim) Byers and Helen (Jim) Rasmussen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, in DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Norman Starks officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 until 7 p.m. in the FUNERAL HOME.
