Frank John Bauer Jr., Poplar Grove, IL  (1928 - 2013)

Frank John Bauer, Jr., 84, of Poplar Grove, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, in the Swedish American Hospital. He was born on June 7, 1928, in Chicago, the son of Frank John and Frances Barbara (Donaubauer) Bauer. He attended Sauganash Elementary and Capron High School. Frank was married to Virginia Glendenning. Frank worked on the farm with his parents and sister until his retirement in the 1990’s. He loved his wife and family. He enjoyed antiques, American Indian history and artifacts, and his pets, including many dogs and cats. He liked to treasure hunt his way through 15 to 20 garage sales per week during the summer.
Frank is survived by his nieces: Robin (George Benas) Davies, Marie Davies and Julie (Scott) Mathys; nephews, Thomas Willis and Jeffrey (Carol) Willis; grandnieces: Marie, Barbara and Emily Benas, Claire Mathys, Sarah and Rachel Willis; grandnephew, Edward Gullickson; brother-in-law, Charles (Chuck) Willis. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Virginia; sisters: Marie Bauer, Florence Willis and Shirley Davies.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the BUCK-WHEELER-HYLAND FUNERAL HOME, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL, with Rev. Paul Nolden, pastor of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Blaine Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 until 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, and at 10 a.m. Saturday, until time of service in the FUNERAL HOME.
