Joan E. Gilmour Herkis, age 82, of Beloit, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013. She was born March 27, 1930, in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Lester and Helen Carroll. She was preceded in death by husband, George Gilmour, where they farmed in Roscoe, for 25 years; and husband George Herkis, where they resided in Florida, for 30 years. She moved back to Beloit, to be with family and enjoy her grandchildren and friends.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Judy (Bill) Kutz; daughter, Gigi (Marshall) Friend; son, Bill (Jackie) Gilmour; and son, Tom (Beth) Gilmour; brother, Tom (Barb) Carroll; sister, Ethel (Ron) Kuxmann; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Helen Carroll; and brothers, Pete and Ed Carroll.
Joan’s Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at SHOPIERE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, 5328 East Church Street, Shopiere, WI, with Pastor Ed Greenfield officiating. Friends will be received Saturday, March 23rd, at the CHURCH from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial is being established in Joan's name.
