Doris F. Koch, Janesville  (1930 - 2013)

Doris F. Koch, age 82, a longtime Janesville resident, and more recently a resident of Cedar Crest, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 17, 2013, at St. Mary's Janesville Hospital. She was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Fenwood, WI, the daughter of the late Herman Hess and Ella Bertha (Usadel) Buderus. She attended school in the Fenwood/Edgar area, and was a graduate of Edgar High School. Doris married Clarence W. "Tom" Koch at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Parsonage on Sept. 3, 1949. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1993. Doris attended the Milwaukee Accredited School of Beauty Culture, Madison campus, and worked at Marinello's Beauty Shop in Janesville. She also had worked for Mercy Hospital. She then worked for the Rock County Human Services Department for many years as a Communications Specialist until her retirement in 1994.
When her children were students at St. Paul's Lutheran School, she started the "Hamburger Day" program, and served as their head cook for the school lunch program. Doris truly loved spending time with her family, and especially enjoyed having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her!
Doris is survived by her three children: JoAnn Sarow, Sue (Tim) Ehlers, and Bill (Sue) Koch, all of Janesville; her six grandchildren: Eric (Geri) Webb, Marc (Gabriel Cooper) Webb, Jessica (Gary) Hohlbein, Jenny (Larry) Griffin, Michael (Anne) Ehlers, and Christopher (Stacy) Ehlers; and her nine great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Kay Hintermeyer; and her sister, Colleen Buderus.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at the CEDAR CREST CHAPEL, 1700 S. River Rd., with Rev. James Melvin officiating. Inurnment will take place in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may call on Friday from 1 until 1:30 p.m. at the CEDAR CREST CHAPEL.
