Emmerich P. Wantschik, Elkhorn, WI  (1943 - 2013)

Emmerich P. Wantschik, 69, of Cool Hill Drive, Elkhorn, WI, died unexpectedly Tuesday at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center, surround by his family. He was born May 17, 1943, in Betschkeret, Yugoslavia, the son of the late Emmerich and Emilie (Tihonov) Wantschik. Emmerich and his parents moved to the United States when he was 13 years old. He served in the U.S. Army from March 22, 1967, until March 7, 1969, with a tour of duty in Germany. On March 11, 1967, he was united in marriage to the former Helga Junker in Chicago, IL. Emmerich was the Director of Walworth County Planning and Zoning office for over 12 years before going to work with Walworth County Metropolitan Sewerage District, where he worked for over 10 years, retiring in 2005. Emmerich was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed doing farm projects with his sons.
Emmerich is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helga; four sons: Emmerich of Elkhorn, Joseph (Kim) of Chicago, IL, Theodor of Elkhorn, and Paul of Platteville, WI; and six grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1 until 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at HAASE-LOCKWOOD & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME, 320 W. Main Street, Palmyra, WI.
