Donald W. Hurst, age 81, of Janesville, died on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital. He was born in Columbia Heights, MN, on Dec. 3, 1931, the son of J.M. and Pearl (Almquist) Hurst. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and married Delores Mae “Dee” Olson in Pigeon Falls on June 20, 1953. Donald had been employed by General Motors for over 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, and the UAW Local 95. He enjoyed golfing, watching sports and reading the newspaper.
Donald is survived by his wife, Dee Hurst of Janesville; two children, Deb (Dick) Raby and David Hurst, both of Janesville; two grandchildren, Dustin and Jessica; and three siblings: Manley (Charlyn) Hurst of West Allis, Alice (Bob) Phillips of Dubuque, IA, and Robert (Micki) Hurst of Germantown; and many nephews, nieces and other extended family and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Hurst; and two sisters, Shirley Bieganski and Joyce Jeffords.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH with Rev. James Melvin officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at the CHURCH. Interment will be in South Beef River Cemetery, Osseo, WI, with full military honors.
