Beverly “Bev” Vicars, 84, of Clinton, died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at UW Hospital in Madison. She was born Sept. 24, 1928, to the late Rudolph and Virginia (Korth) Dettmer in Janesville, WI. She graduated from Janesville High School class of 1947. Bev married Robert Vicars on Oct. 31, 1947, in Iowa. She was a home maker, devoted wife and loving mother. She adored her grandchildren, always putting family first. Bev was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday school and was active with many Church activities. Bev sold Avon for over 50 years. Bev also was active in a bowling league. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Bev is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bob Vicars of Clinton; her daughter, Linda (Bob) Schut of New Mexico, and their six children: Melinda, Kari, Patrisha, Gary, Jon and Robbie; her daughter, Teresa Vicars (fiancé Kevin Bergoholz) of Clinton, and her daughter, Rachel; 21 great-grandchildren; and many friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Vicars; and her brother, Jim Korth.
The family would like to thank the staff at Alden Meadow Park and the UW Hospital staff for the care they gave Mom.
Bev’s Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 312 Church Street, Clinton, with Rev. Courtney Ellis officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday at CHURCH from 9 until 10:45 a.m. Private family interment will follow the service. A memorial is being established in Bev's name.
