Matthew George McCready, Whitewater, WI  (1957 - 2013)

Matthew George McCready, age 55, of Whitewater, WI, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI. Matthew was born in Ann Arbor, MI, on Oct. 5, 1957, the son of Donald and Sally (Wyman) McCready. He attended Whitewater High School. From childhood onward Matt was especially talented in understanding and designing electrical circuits and systems. From 1974 through 1978, he served in the U.S. Navy as an Operation Specialist on a destroyer during several Pacific ocean tours. On Sept. 12, 1993, Matthew married Laura Hernandez in Cambridge, WI. Matthew worked for Accurate, Inc. in Whitewater, WI, designing electrical control systems. He also worked for Briggs and Stratton in Jefferson, WI, doing Quality Engineering until they closed down. Then, he pursued, and recently obtained an AD degree in Finance at Madison Area Technical College award on Dec. 20, 2012.
His greatest love in life was spending time with his children. He enjoyed teaching his children about his hobbies like downhill skiing and golfing. He also enjoyed constructing his own homes. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Surviving are his wife, Laura McCready of Whitewater; his children: Branden McCready of Whitewater, Shelby McCready of Cottage Grove, WI, Ian McCready of Whitewater, Isaac McCready of Whitewater, and Eli McCready of Whitewater; his father, Donald McCready of Whitewater; and two brothers, Ben (Anne) McCready of Whitewater, and Sam McCready of Monona, WI. Matt was preceded in death by his mother, Sally (Wyman) McCready.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the NITARDY FUNERAL HOME, 550 N. Newcomb St., Whitewater, WI. A luncheon will follow the visitation at 1 pm.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be given to the McCready Children Memorial Fund at the First Citizen's Bank in Whitewater, WI.
