Peter J. Klassy, Orfordville, WI  (1929 - 2013)

Peter J. Klassy, age 83, of Orfordville, passed away on Jan. 15, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital, Janesville. He was born in New Glarus, WI, on May 7, 1929, the son of Peter and Rose (Baertschi) Klassy. He married Marilyn Simonson on Oct. 12, 1956, in Orfordville Lutheran Church. Peter was a member of Orfordville Lutheran Church. He retired in 1988 from GM Assembly Division, Janesville, where he was a member of the UAW #95. He served with the US Army during the Korean War, was a member of Kenneth S. Wells Post of American Legion and the Orfordville Fire Department. He was a bus driver for Parkview School District and drove for Burtness Chevrolet.
Peter is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Debra (Jed) Speich and Donna (Charles) Nolan, all of Orfordville; son, Daniel (Shannon) of Janesville; grandchildren: Josh (Nicole) and Justin (Nicole) Speich, Kelly (Brad Phillips) and Ryan Nolan, and Katie and Marti Klassy; great-grandchildren: Riley, Gracin, Chesney, Jordyn, Makenna and Kaden; and a sister, Rosemary Scott of Janesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, David, in 1981.
Funeral services will be held at ORFORDVILLE LUTHERAN CHURCH at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, with Pastor Eric Jones officiating. Burial will be in Orfordville Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at NEWCOMER-SILVERTHORN CHAPEL ON THE HILL, 3008 South Coon Island Road, Orfordville, from 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday.
