BRODHEAD—Bernadine I. Popanz, age 89, of Daleville, AL, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at her home. She was born on Jan. 30, 1923, in Magnolia Township, Rock County, WI, the daughter of William Henry and Mabel Leonora (Hageman) Gibson. She married Fred Popanz on July 11, 1942. He passed away on July 10, 1968. Bernadine taught at Spring Valley Corners School prior to having her family, and for 25 years farmed with her husband in Magnolia Township. Her primary love was her family for whom she would do anything. Bernadine's special gift was that she found good in everyone. Her other interests included reading and playing scrabble.
Bernadine is survived by five children: Jerry (Ellyn Marek) Popanz, Jean (Bob) Peterson, Mary (Phil) Rundle, all of Brodhead, Ann (Tom) Reifsteck of Bluffton, IN, Carol (Leonard) Momeny of Daleville, AL; thirteen grandchildren: Fred (Darbara) Popanz, Jerod (Melissa) Popanz, Becky (Chris) Jimenez, JoAnna Peterson, Justin Rundle (Liz Meyer), Robin Rundle (Kalen Marsden), Chris (Laurie) Reifsteck, Anjie (Todd) Hartman, Kelly (James) Daniels, Eric Heidi (Amanda Sullivan), Alex Momeny, Scott (Shannon) Momeny and Sam Momeny; twenty great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Wilma; and a brother, Alan.
