Howard Edward Buckingham, age 85, of Fort Atkinson, WI, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at his home. Howard was born in Fort Atkinson, WI, on Feb. 15, 1927, the son of Clarence and Freida (Reiss) Buckingham. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran School in Fort Atkinson. He served his country in the U.S. Navy Amphibs during World War II. On Sept. 14, 1947, Howard married Nathalie Wisch at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Howard worked for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater prior to his retirement and was a custodian for St. Paul's Lutheran School. Howard was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #166, and the USS-LSM-LSMR Association.
Surviving are his wife, Nathalie Buckingham of Fort Atkinson; his children: Janet (Pat) Marsden of Edgerton, WI; and Howard (Kathryn) Silvestre of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren: Michelle (Todd) Schoeller, Mike Marsden, and Minda Silvestre; great-grandchildren: Brandon Schoeller, Emelyn Schoeller, and Jake Marsden; his brother, Allen (Lynn) Buckingham of Albuquerque, NM; his sisters, Nancy Jorgenson of Jefferson, WI, and Linda Buckingham of Fort Atkinson; and sister-in-law, Dolores Buckingham of Fort Atkinson. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Nanette Isaacs; a brother, Donald Buckingham; and two sisters, Carol Jean and Barbara Buckingham.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, Feb. 01, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the ST. PAUL'S EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 301 S. High Street, Fort Atkinson, WI, Rev. Michael Duncan and Rev. Paul Scharrer officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson.
Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at the NITARDY FUNERAL HOME, Fort Atkinson, WI, and after 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at the CHURCH until the time of the services.
