Pending federal law is forcing Rock County to take a look at the facility and plan for its future.
Among the new amenities planned for the proposed new Rock Haven Nursing Care facility are centralized day and social rooms in smaller 'households' giving residents less distance to travel to and from their rooms.

Beulah shares a room and bathroom with another resident at Rock Haven. A 1-3 ratio of residents [out of 130 at Rock Haven] share rooms. The proposal for the new facility includes private rooms for every resident.

Beulah and her husband, Warren, play bingo with a large group of residents two to three times per week in one of the facilities social rooms.

Also in the proposal for the new facilities are a series of 16-bed households, all ranch-style architecture, situated in a 'neighborhood' that would enclose an outdoor therapy area and garden. The ground-level facility would eliminate the need for elevators which can be tedious for residents at Rock Haven.

"Blue skies, nothing but blue skies," Beulah sings in the hallways of Rock Haven just before RN Leslie Smyth-Ayen stops to give her a hug and kiss on the head. Beualah is known for her hugs and smile among the staff.
