Obama campaign to film video in Rock County

By Beth Wheelock ( Contact )   March 12, 2008 - 5:27 a.m.

Barack Obama's supporters are in Rock County the remainder of the week and into the weekend to shoot a new music video for Obama's presidential campaign.

The video features Beloit composer Rob Tomaro's song "It's Our Time Now". The song will be performed and filmed Wednesday at Cafe Belwah in the Beloit Inn. Tomaro says the video will have a "We Are the World" feel to it, with a variety of groups and people singing it in different settings. Friday, the cameras will film UAW Local 95 workers in Janesville.

Tomaro created the song for the movie "Remembering Minnesota". He realized its application to Obama's campaign when he saw a rally on television. The song was featured during Obama's rally in Beloit last month.

National Lampoon Summer Vacation. Rusty says something like "Maybe if Aunt Edna had a family of her own, then she wouldn't have to glom on to everybody else's." I was just kidding about Barack. I think that he is going to be the one. I just thought that I might catch the attention of some of his more rabid supporters. I would never seriously wish harm to anyone. I guess I just like using pop culture references.

Politicians in music videos. It makes me sick. If Obama wants to glom on to something from popular culture to get attention, why doesn't he try jumping the Snake River Canyon on a highly-modified motorcycle. It would probably be the biggest pay-for-view ever. Think about it.

Voter #1: "Don't blame me, I voted for Change".
Voter #2: "What? What does that mean"?
Voter #3: "Exactly".

There are more hard working people in Janesville the GMAD maybe they should consider the workers that earn less and work just as hard. Check the phone book and find others that support our community with their hard work. Did Obama ever work in a factory?

How funny to have a music video. Someone should actually tell the guy to present what he's going to do for the country and how. Instead of saying "change" and "hope". Of course there is going to be change you can only be the president for eight years. He has no substance just words.

"Friday, the cameras will film UAW Local 95 workers in Janesville."

Which workers would those be seeing as how GM is not working on Friday and hasn't been for quite some time?

Fantastic use of local supporters AND a nod to the working people in our community. It's a good thing.
