Stewart sentenced to life in prison
From the WCLO newsroom:
Thirty-seven-year-old Byron Stewart will be spending the rest of his life in prison for the murder of 35-year-old Carlos Lak in Beloit in April 2007.
In handing down the sentence Friday in Rock County court, judge Dan Dillon recounted Stewart's past 20 years of violence.
Stewart's defense attorney argued that there should be some chance for parole. Judge Dillon, however, sentenced Stewart to life and said his eligibility for parole would be "never."

It's about time a judge does the sensible thing and puts away a violent offender for the rest of his life. It's too bad more repeat offenders aren't sentenced more harshly.
