Gridlock? You must be crazy. After last night's 20 minute show we walked to our car (parked in front of Old Country), pulled out of the lot, and drove homw with out any traffic. Gridlock, well if you call waiting at a traffice light to change...

glock19-what no gridlock traffic at r&b in madison???? WoW how do they do it.

actually their is for anyone that hasnt been there. NOTHING compared to little ol janesville. I believe the population that goes to R & B is the same amount as the size of Janesville.

If you havent seen it is true it isnt anything like Janesville but they spend A WHOLE lot more money on it. It is guite a site too see if you havent.

for all of those jumping down my throat. it was suposed to be a funny comment. I didnt know there was already a ramp type thing there.I was refering to the $650K tunnel theyre going to build. The city cannot seem to stop finding way to spend all our tax dollars. i do live near eastside so I dont know what kind of referance that was suposed to mean.I also dont see what the big deal is if it is closed for a day or 2.

We have enjoyed the fireworks since Freedom Fest began and it has grown every year. Watching from our back yard has been an event our family has enjoyed. What I am amazed at is how much trash and junk is left on the streets of our subdivision from all the people who park to get a good view of the fireworks. Please if you are planning to attend-be considerate of the neighborhood. (that is if anyone in this town knows how to be considerate)

People complain about the few police officers who have to work for traffic.. Anyone complain about the airshow, and the street and park closings for that, what about the noise pollution.

We watch the show from the Pine Tree Plaza. With the extension done you can get out by Walmart / Sams and on your way.

The field that they light the fireworks from is in my backyard. They have already cleared the spot for them and everything. It is the field across hwy 14 from the church. Which is right next to the trail. The same place they have launched them from for atleast the last 2 years.

But, Glock, if you would prefer to go to Madison for their fireworks, I know I won't miss you or your attitude down here.

We sit there on the trail every year and they are far enough away to not be an issue. They light them on the Church grounds. I have never been hit by debris or seen anyone else have that issue either. Guess I will be going to R & B in Madison and forget this one. There is no other place to see the display unless you go to the church or get stuck in gridlock traffic.

Open the trail to everyone dumb enough to walk through... A darwin award could shed some light on the town

If any idiot wants to walk the bike path during the launching of the fireworks, I say be my guest! They light the fireworks off in the field right next to the trail. They are closing the trail as a precaution so no one gets hurt. It will be open (like it has been every year) Before they set up, and after the fireworks. If they didn't close the trail and heaven forbid someone walked through, or rode a bike through and had something land on them, everyone here would be throwing a fit cause they didn't close the trail!

The closed portion of bike path is a small price to pay for an excellent fireworks display.

Well said AP2533jvl,I could'nt agree with you more. Park the bike and walk up there. These same people that are complaining, need to sit back and look at their lives and see how good they really got it compaired to a lot of other people in this town.

I wasn't complaining, it was a question.

No, they don't "check your religous affiliation at the entrance" and nor do they check what kind of beverages you bring in ;)

Who pays for the police officers used to direct traffic after the event?

Why would they do that? Does the city make money from this event? I love to ride to that section to watch the fireworks. Seems like they are trying to encourage more motor traffic to clog the already impassible roads in that area.

ChsMkr - Do you find fireworks religious? Your not very tolerant of other peoples beliefs or in this case activities that include the whole town not just a religious thing. Just a guess (about how long the bike path is) but I'm sure that there is at least 9 miles of the bike path that will remain open. How about we just use a different part for one night?

I'll be praying for you ChsMkr. Is it still legal to do that?

Closing a busy thoroughfare for activities related to areligious organization? What about separation of church and Skate?
