Milton sells land to YMCA
The YMCA and Milton have come to an agreement on the sale of five acres of land in Crossridge Park.
The YMCA of Northern Rock County will pay the appraised value of $17,500 an acre -- $87,500 all together -- for the land, according to a joint news release from the city and the YMCA.
According to the contract, the YMCA must build a facility on the property within five years or the city has the option to buy the land back.
Milton and the YMCA have been working for two years on a plan for Crossridge Park. A conceptual plan from fall 2007 included a YMCA facility, playgrounds and sports fields.

Dig deeper and you will find the regulation size pool. When you find the pool, you will also find major contributions to the new Milton Y. I would guess making the case for rebuilding the lap pool in the old YMCA would be difficult after the more affluent of Janesville (Harmony, Milton Township, East-siders) realized they would have the new facility built close to home. It's there, you just have not found it yet. A YMCA with no pool is incomplete in most peoples eyes. There will be a regulation size pool. What better way to satisfy the base than to add the magical pool to the plan as an afterthought. I wonder if Evansville keeps growing at the rate it is, if we can expect to see expanded Y services?

I want a pool, and I want the YMCA to allow access to the pool for Mercy rehabilitation. We need to emphasize the pool for recreation and fitness for all parts of the population from children to the elderly.
