Charter close to deal on Big Ten Network
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Most of Wisconsin will be able to see the Badgers this fall on cable.
Now it appears that Charter Communications, which services Madison, is close to an agreement with the Big Ten Network, too.
A Charter spokesman tells the Wisconsin State Journal that they are in active negotiations and very optimistic that a deal will be done soon.
The Big Ten Network and Time Warner Cable announced Monday night that the network would be included in Time Warner’s expanded basic cable service starting this weekend.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the Big Ten Network — and the Badgers’ Saturday opener against Akron — would be available in southeastern Wisconsin on Channel 63 and in northern Wisconsin on Channel 72.
The Big Ten Network launched last year and is now available to an estimated 55 million households on cable and satellite television services.

meinelkm20 you signed a contract with charter?? Since when do you have to sign a contract to get cable. You do however have to sign a contract to get a dish and if you don't like the dish you are stuck with it for two years.

If you have a contract with Charter already, can they hike up your bill just because they added a new network?

Localboy is right. I have had Directv for about 6 years and have only had to call service twice. There High Def has way more channels than charter and their HD - DVR is so easy to use. Plus I can hook my DVR up to a computer and store more plus burn right ot DVD.

For you people that don't get it, switch to satellite T.V. I made the switch over 2.5 years ago. I am locked in to a guaranteed price, and it already came with NFL and Big Ten Network. More channels and about $50 cheaper a month. It included a DVR! I know some are in apartments and can't get a dish setup, but if you don't like Charter, do something about it. My biggest peave with Charter was the sound difference between channels. You don't get that with dish. I don't even want to get in to the broadband discussion about Charter raping me. By the way, I went with Direct TV.

No kidding jvldude. That and expect more channels to be moved around "to make room for" this. In teh umpteen years we had extended basic, rates ahve gone up big time and the number of channels (decent channels) has decreased.

I wonder if the deal would include the NFL Network.
