— Police arrested a man and his adult stepson Saturday after they fought at the father’s residence and a shotgun was fired.

The fight began with words at a tavern, and both men apparently had been drinking, town of Beloit police reported. Arrested were:

-- Jamie E. Stowers, 44, of 3044 Afton Road, Beloit, the stepson, on charges of battery and disorderly conduct.

-- Steven M. Splinter, 48, of 3076 Afton Road, Beloit, on charges of endangering safety by intoxicated use of a weapon and discharging a weapon within 100 yards of a dwelling.

Town officers, backed up by the city of Beloit police K-9 unit, were called to a disturbance at 8:35 p.m. Saturday. Officers found the two men on the ground fighting behind Splinter’s residence. They were taken into custody without incident, the town police reported.

Splinter told officers that he walked home after the argument in the tavern and that Stowers assaulted him while he was working behind his residence. Stowers then fled to nearby woods.

Splinter, upset by the attack, fired a shotgun into the air behind the residence, police reported.

Stowers later emerged from the woods and attacked Splinter again, and that’s when police arrived.

Police recovered the shotgun and 12 empty shell casings. Both men were questioned at the town police department. Splinter was held at the Rock County Jail until his blood-alcohol level dropped to 0.04.

Majormojo you don't even have a clue how much crime goes on in Janesville that is not reported. You think it's a perfect city and that Beloit is the only place with problems. You are a joke and I can't help but to laugh at everything you post on this website.
