On More accountability coming to comments

@dvonfalkenstein/Mr. Angus. My current URL is still with the double e. Might want to check with your programmers on how they are handling the 301, if it has been that long since you changed domains.
4 million page views is pretty typical of what a paper will report. A few years ago the BDN made the same claim (1 million page views per month 5 years ago) when they were trying to sell me advertising, but it is falsely represted by the number of sub-pages intertwined in a page. You can have a header, a footer, 2 advertisements, 7 right columns, an instantly you have 11 page views for every loaded page. Yes you may accurately report you had 4 million page views but it that a real honest representation of what your traffic is? I work with a site that has an alexa rating of >2,000,000 that has 2.5 million page views a month. :) have a great day.

My comment was that the reach is pathetic, not a person.

Scott, you have linked to a cache of where you once were. http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/gazetteext... you are at 601,959 pretty darn pathetic. That's your three month reach.

Sorry Mr. Angus, this does not help the paper. Big question for you, does that 4 million page views include SE-cache? Do you provide your advertisers a demographic of where there visitors are from? The top web ranker doesn't even list your site in the top 1/2 million websites in the world. In comparison the school district's website is ranked in the top 20,000. You are also aware that the beloit daily news website is ranked 20% higher than you. Even the Milton Courier is ranked with more traffic than you.

The Gazette was the go to paper in the 60's, 70's, 80's and even into the 90's, but you are failing in the digitial age. I dumped my paper subscription years ago. It is sad what news has become, Best wishes to you in the future.

On Mounds shuts down Rock County Humane Society satellite adoption center

I think if someone put all the facts in one article it would make more sense. Mounds says they are committed to the Animals of the community. RCHS no longer will accept animals from the police of Janesville, Beloit or Edgerton, they have to go to Dane County. So, Mounds is opening the adoption area in Janesville to the Dane County Humane Society, where the stray animals of Janesville, Beloit and Edgerton go. It only makes sense that the local pet store support the the local stray animal population, and that they are doing. It sounds more to me like Mounds is making a more directed effort to help local animals (even if via Dane County) get placed in their "Forever Homes." Really there has to be something else that people are missing, because on the surface it does seem like RCHS has some serious

I think if you look back in history far enough (18 or 19 years would be a good guess), the RCHS used to have cats placed at Preferred Pets, and just about the same thing happened there. Abruptly stopped bringing them. I know, my wife and I used to shuttle the animals from RCHS to Preferred Pets.

Considering all of the stories in 2012 those are the ones that they thought were good? I wish the best for the Gazette in 2013.

On Reflecting on concerns at Edgerton Hospital

IJ's in hospitals rarely make the news. What I think would also be interesting. Why is SSM who only holds a 49% non-controlling stake using their spokes people to address this situation? IJ's in a hospital rarely if ever make it to press, how did anyone find out about this? 29 days were cited that's amazingly bad press 20% chance of having not enough staff to care for you. Honestly, the medical community as a whole does a terrible job of risk management. This is not a single person problem, but a system problem that went unattended for months upon months.

tedmlewis, of course you are going to support Koltse, All she did for years is inappropriately funnel more money into wasted projects. Ted you are clear evidence that the Teachers Unions are TOTALLY out of touch with REALITY! We the taxpayers are tired of wasted money, and WEA/JEA is a huge waste of money PERIOD. You again prove why Deb is bad for our community and only someone with personal interests and not the best interest of the community would vote for Koltse.

Cool to see another music business here in Janesville. I would love to see that repair on that Dove! Silly, I am doing a set up on an LP while watching the brewers right now... Man multitasking with guitars is cool!
