For lo, these many years we've wondered what became of Lenny & Squiggy. Now here we find them playing foosball in Janesville. Who would have thought?

On Philly powers into NLCS with 6-2 win over Brewers

OUTFIELD: I'd be surprised if they kept Cameron after his perfomance, but Sveum and the owner both like him. Braun's locked up, Gwynn's back, they'll try to keep Kapler and win arbitration with Hart.

INFIELD: Hall, Dillon, and Escobar will be back unless they throw Hall in a deal along with Gwynn and/or Fielder. If Counsell doesn't retire he'll try out for the same role. Branyan's probably done. Fielder and Hardy are eligible for arbitration. They'll work hard to keep JJ and Prince will almost certainly be part of trade talks for pitching. I'd think they'd try to sign Durham, but they're stuck with Weeks now that he had knee surgery. What would they get for him anyway with his year?

CATCHER: Both Kendall and Rivera should be back as there's not much in the minors.

PITCHING will have the most turnover by far. If Sheets is back, it's because no one would take a chance on his injury record. Sabathia's 6 year contract will exceed the entire 2008 team payroll so he's gone. Also gone are Gagne, Mota, and Shouse. Back are Gallardo, Bush, Capuano, Parra, Suppan, and Stetter. I'd think they'd try to keep Torres but I don't know about Riske or Coffey.

Bottom line: be prepared for quite a different team in '09.

Uhhh yeah 1919. Suppan's under contract so even if they release him, they still have to pay him. The only way to save his salary for the CC fund is to trade him. Please call Doug Melvin when you find a team that will take him at that salary.

On Bus driver ticketed in crash

I'm not sure that this information warranted another news story. Damage to the bus was so minor that when a fireman pulled the fender, the bus was able to be driven back to the garage. None of the students or staff was hurt. Why should it be anybody's business if the driver got a ticket? Many if not most of us have driven an interstate at that time of the week and would've maintained the same distance he did. I don't think the discrepancy in the story of the truck driver needs newsprint either. He avoided the bus and then offered assistance. The results of his actions were pretty positive to say the least so let's put the accident behind us like the team did when they decided to play Friday night and move on already.

On Protecting rights is crucial for new judge

The average citizen's question would be why wouldn't you interview the existing staff? Not only would it make you more familiar with them, it would offer you the opportunity to eliminate potential weak areas and break up any "good old boy" network. From the negative nature of all of the posts shown in your history, I'm much more comfortable with this judge in the building than I am with you being there. At election time, Mr. Fitzpatrick's performance will determine whether he deserves the post.

On Brewers fire manager Ned Yost

I agree that the move should have been made much earlier in the season. Nothing against Sveum, but it will take a truly heroic effort to right this ship with only 12 games remaining. I was at the Cub game last night and that team is a juggernaut right now with the confidence they are showing on the field. The 6 remaining games we have vs. them are going to be tough. Actually I think Yost can become a good manager. Hopefully he will learn from this. You cannot sit with the same lineup day after day, week after week, hoping players will snap out of it. Speaking of hope, mine is that 4 or 5 players sitting in a hotel in Chicago today realize what went down and take steps to turn their mind-set and performance around starting tomorrow.
