On Why you should be optimistic about Janesville

Posted on January 27 at 2:37 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

When i need a good laugh, this is alwys a good place to start. Janesville? Booming? if it was i would be back home with my wife and kids. I've seen no real evidence of that except to see a lot of burger flipping jobs and a couple small companies relocate. I've seen more businesses close i think than what janesville has gained because no one is stepping up to promote the city. i wish someone would.
as for the plant, wahoo_35 is right. the plant is STILL on stand by. how long? who knows. there are to be several announcements the next month to 6 weeks with reguard to adding shifts AND capacity for GM to build its vehicles. first an article from this very paper:

http://www.gazettextra.com/news/2011/sep...

keep in mind this is from 2011. the day after i had to transfer to my new facility from here.now take a look at a recent article from detroit free press:

http://www.freep.com/article/20130117/BU...

the numbers Dr Cole are talking about are coming very close. Will the plant reopen? who knows i'm still not holding my breath. i hope it does tho. right now, i really don't see any "booming" janesville or i would be back home now.

On Wisconsin workers could fill Belvidere jobs

GM closed from the previous administration. thats fine, then idiot boy comes along and promises 250,00 jobs. he has delivered on maybe 3000 i think and i spent 9 months hitting the papers, job search sites, wherever i could find job listings into his administration. in my field of work, there has been nothing come along. as far as i'm concerned, his promise there was nothing but a lie to get elected. i ended up taking a job 300 miles away from family.
Swiss Chick: W had 8 yrs to really screw this country up. its gonna take a lot longer than 4 yrs to fix. thing is, i don;t see ANY presidential candidate with a fix on the horizon either.

if i was back in janesville i might have known about all those theflick. problem is because of idiot boy, i had to take a job out of state and keep in touch with my family via phone. not narrow minded, just unable to keep up with home because of the distance.

the point i was making was that illinois, even with its high corporate tax is still adding jobs. what has our glorious leader here in wisconsin done towards his promise? not a dam thing except screw it up royally. and shawn you are right that the Belvidere plant makes cars on the same platform. the whole industry does this not just them. platforms chage, cars are added or taken out. thats normal and not really even a factor. what is a factor is the work force they have there. its among the best in the chrysler system. they don;t let politics ruin them like politics ruined janesville.

ya know, some people jsut don't get it. why is General Motors even brought into this? sure, a man retires from GM with 30 yrs. he was 18 or so when he started maybe and still has kids in school and didn't wanna uproot them? I know some of my fellow co workers were in that situation. My son was recently laid off from his job in Fort Atkinson. reason?...... not enough work and he worked there 7 yrs. Scott Walkers promise to create all those jobs is shallow. he said that to get people to vote for him and his many lies he would eventually unleash when elected. he has done nothing to create jobs in this state. my son was hitting the road to try and find a new job every day for several weeks. he finally applied at chrysler. he WANTS to work but there is nothing in this area. he realizes he can eventually car pool, how tough the work will be(those who think the auto industry jobs are "Gravy" these days are out of touch with reality). he;s ready for it. he applied there one night recently after i found the link and the next morning he was already being set up for interviews. i applaud the state of Illinois for sticking with companies that work with them. Scott Walker however, needs to be recalled with all his lame and useless promises.

On Should state create tollways?

i wouldn't be opposed to the state looking into how the i pass works. after all, if illinois uses it, they should be able to ask them how its set up. we would then know how much actually would go towards or roads. thats IF we weren;t lied to about this as well.

I would be in favor of tollways actually. i Pass is used in Illinois and indiana and i believe a couple other states. its rather handy when i come back home from work every 2nd or 3rd weekend to see my family because Idiot boy can't fullfill his promise of the jobs he said he would create. i pay a lump sum for tolling and when it starts to run out i get an e mail remindning me. IF Idiot Boy left the money go where its supposed to, would help as far as road maintanance.
