On Homeowners’ flood claims denied

Not so, nowind. No offense intended but you are mistaken. If excessive rain caused the sewer system to back up and you had included back up coverage you're claim would be paid subject to the coverage's deductible.

Moco, policy language isn't that complicated anymore and has been rewritten specifically to make it easier for consumers to comprehend. It's your obligation to read your policy and if you don't understand something pick up the phone and ask.

The bottom line is that most consumers don't want to be bothered with it and sometimes that comes back to bite them in behind.

Approximently 95% of the causes of claims presented for dwelling damage and 92% of those presented for damaged property. And you can increase those precentages by adding endorsements as needed.

On Rotary Gardens to charge fee

My day can be pretty hectic but sometimes I liked to grab a SubWay and go down to Rotary Gardens to eat lunch and relax. A $1 is no problem and I often left that as a donation anyway. The need for a fee is understandable and I wish them the best of luck. But I won't be visiting for $5.

It's called Back up of Sewer and Drains coverage. Homeowners insurers offer it as an endorsement on homeowner insurance policies. Even renters can purchase it. All they would have had to do is include it on their policy and they'd have been taken care of.

I wonder if they're confusing a standard homeowners policy with a rental dwelling policy. To be eligible for a homeowners policy the dwelling must be a one or two family dwelling which is occupied, at least in part, by the owner. If it's occupied by another party even if they are related to the home's owner a rental dwelling policy should be written. Either way neither covers flood damage.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something I don't think the issue is who's name the policy is in. It undoubtedly includes a flood damage exclusion.

A federal flood insurance policy, if required by the lender, would be written in addition to a homeowners policy. Federal flood insurance covers flood damage but not damage caused by fire, wind, hail, etc. They also don't provide liability coverage.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something in the article but my understanding is that the damage was caused by flood waters which caused the foundation to shift. Insurance policies don't cover flood damage regardless of whose name the policy is in.

What kind of weapon did he have other than a nylon stocking? The headline says it was an attempted "armed" robbery but makes no mention of any weapon.
