On Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport tower to stay open for now

This will satisfy the needs of our ever-growing business community won't it? What will happen after October 1st? Will the taxpayers be expected to kick in bail - out money for this too? When will enough be enough?
On Janesville City Council debating future of economic development position
Posted on May 11 at 10:35 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
How much money will the citizens of this community be expected to throw at this problem and actual development? Why isn't our governor sending in his troops to take over the city like they do in Michigan? Maybe it's time for some cooperation and hard work for all of us in this city. What can we do to help out?

Does it appear that the Janesville economic bus is off course? If so, who's driving? As a citizen, does it make you want to bail out also?
On Wis. Legislature OKs sanitation worker safety bill

It's good to see that the Wisconsin Legislature can finally find something on which they can agree. Reckless drivers going around garbage trucks without paying attention is a problem in Janesville also. Are people who are visiting on cell phones or texting also exhibiting reckless behavior? I wonder if their behavior isn't more dangerous than the common drunk's. How can we become more "wreckless"?
On Ryan, Walker headline Wisconsin GOP convention

Will a Rubio-Ryan ticket work the needed magic? Wasn't Reince Priebus a U.W.-Whitewater grad? How far can Walker go? When using Brylcream will a "little dab" really suffice or "do you?"

Is safety still a concern? Will air service to our "uncontrolled" airport be serving the facility? How much power generation(draw) will be required to provide for the needs of 8 accelerators? Will the city of Janesville have to provide even more economic development monies for a private industrial enterprise? Will the Nuclear Regulatory Commission require further studies on possible problems? Will atomic waste be buried in our backyard or that of someone else? When will the glow of SHINE finally settle over our community?

I remember working at GM when it was running 3 shifts and some of us were working 60 work weeks. Many of us were not "lazy" 40 hour people. We took all the work we could get because we knew it might not last. We also invested in the stock market and furthered our education. I knew several guys on the "line" who had Master's degrees. We appreciated the opportunity to get work and appreciated the benefits of union representation which was fought for by many of our peers and ancestors. Like other places of employment, GM had some bad apples who did not hold up their end of the workload. We all knew who they were and they were the subject of ridicule. They often didn't last long because of their self-destructive ways. But our union was still charged with representing them in disputes as a matter of law. At times I saw union reps who were disgusted by poor behaviors of bad apples but they still provided services as required. It is not right to condemn the achievements of many for the failures of a few. Look around you at your workplace, if you have one, and tell me that you don't have "bad apples." Do they really represent your positive contributions to your workplace? "Left" and "Right" don't matter in the workplace, earning a decent living does. I know, I had friends who were in both political wings but we were proud to be hard workers.

While the facility appears beautiful and patient friendly, some questions remain. Was it overdue and on budget? Have all problems that were encountered been completely addressed? Will this building meet all current and future needs of our county? Why is so much discussion centered around a jukebox? I only hope that in a few years I will not be "rocking on" in that facility.

Many citizens probably want to know where to apply for FREE MONEY from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. No strings attached and little oversight sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Perhaps voters should expect something for their tax dollars and they should hold their representatives in the state legislature and state senate accountable shouldn't they?

On Committee to consider double dipping changes
Posted on May 20 at 11:50 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
Are retired military people double dippers? Are previously underpaid (retired) public employees double dippers? Are legislators double dippers? Are construction workers who are laid off every winter (with unemployment benefits) double dippers? Will any of the governor's double-dipping friends be affected? However the legislature tries to change the language, "creative" employees will find a way to circumscribe the intent of the law.
