On Did schools wait too long to call snow day?

YES!!!! I don't like knee jerk closings, but Janesville has never been guilty of that. What would have made sense would have been around 8 or 9, AFTER the governor declared a state of emergency, and UW-Madison cancelled classes for the first time in 19 years! We all went to bed with a slight fear we'd be facing a school day, only to be awoken rudely at 5:30. Why not make the call at 10:30 when the decision was made? No matter what you're waking some people; may as well do it sooner so everyone can plan accordingly.

Wow, funny how attached everyone is to the red meat. I love it as much as the next guy, just can't afford it.
Steve, I do not think your diet means a single thing about you, nor would changing it change you. However I do hear from vegetarians that it may 'mess you up' a tad if you suddenly indulge. So take it easy if you do choose to partake!

On Random gunfire strikes two Janesville homes

I also live across the river and was awokened by the noise. It was no fun trying to figure out where it was coming from and whether we were in danger so please remember it affected a lot more than just those 2 houses that were hit. I woke my kids and we all slept on the floor in the middle of the house after it went on so long!!!

Endless supply is right. The shots were on and off for a good 15 minutes it was very strange to hear in the middle of the night and not know why it kept going.

Wow. I'm sure there were times they didn't enjoy Slicks patrons, but Little League lighting?? Do they think they live in the country or a densely populated neighborhood a block off of Milton Avenue? The article tonight made me embarrassed for the quiet majority of that neighborhood who recognize controlled development as a good thing.

Yo, Willie, the investors haven't even been named. So what are these personal relationships with Mr. Levitt? Are you confusing these potential ice rink investors with the Janesville Jets investors? The 2 groups are as unrelated as GM and Toyota investors but I'm trying to make some sence of your ridiculous claims for the rest of us scratching our heads.
PS: the Levitts have no part in the Janesville Youth Hockey Club.

Thanks for clearing that up, Tbird. When Mr Fisher simply reiterated the 2007 thing, I was still curious. Tiny statements which don't address the root question (How was my kid in a soccer organization with Rock in the name, before 2007?) don't help anyone. Unfortunately, this seems to be his MO.
If I am reading between the lines correctly, I'm guessing that the Rock Football Federation (RFF) of yesteryear at Bond Park was indeed something of a precursor to Rock Soccer Club (RSC) as I'd heard, if only in name but not membership, not officially, and not for travelling teams in the league, or other governing group. THANK YOU!
Before and after 2007, neither Rock Soccer/Football has been the most organized or helpful club and it definitely affects their bottom line financially. (ie begging for registration info/dates/costs makes people give up and not join.)
Mr. Fisher's actions of late explain a lot about that perception but I trust he and the board will take this as a learning experience so that we can count on RSC for years to come!

Cell phones work perfectly well in power outages too, because they use batteries. :) Ditto for their alarm clocks, vs those plugged in.
I understand the reluctance and the nostalgia, but our landline was out of service for at least 3 days before we noticed last month. It was another 4-5 days before they fixed it, and it didn't affect our lives. Thanks to Charter's horrible service, we'll soon be done with it and have another $30/month!
