On Why gun owners are running scared

justsaynotomath: I'm sorry but what was an 8 year old allowed to hold a gun let alone fire one for? That to me seems to be a parental problem not that of guns or gun control. The gun was what ultimately killed him but there was much more stupidity involved before that.

On High schools locked down for drug search

sannio: Just how badly to you think the kids were treated. The weren't allowed to leave so that if the dogs found something the kid could be located. Why is that so terrible?

Drugs are illegal and if doing searches like this removes some the drugs from society, then great.

This is not an errosion of our rights. You people are high! Just like spark said, if you don't have anything to hide what's the problem?

It was a simple search for drugs!!! Why must all of you see more into it than that. I guess there are a lot more nutjobs in Janesville than I thought. Go on with your conspiracies and theories that the government is out to steal our freedom. Move to another country if it is so bad here. If you feel your rights are deriorating that much then move! The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

The random searches are a great idea and quite honestly I wish they would more of them. So what if it costs the taxpayers a little money. Your money gets wasted on a lot worse things. This could potentially save someone that may be going down the wrong road!

I also agree with the person who stated children don't have rights. They have certain rights, like to be clothed, fed, sheltered and treated fairly but as of late kids seem to be getting more bold and often dumb. Why not try and keep our schools clean? It is a small price to pay for everyones safety.

This isn't about communism or facism. If you think that you are probably one of those freaks who has a conspiracy theory for everything and that the government is evil and his coming to get you. Here is a little reality for you people, things have changed since you were in school. There are more drugs that are much more dangerous and more readily available than when most of us grew up. Keeping them out of a place they don't belong should be a priority, if it's not then maybe you have some issues to deal with.

Get over your prescious tax dollars, you are going to pay them and more as that is a reality and will not change.

On Auto dealers bring local angle to bailout fight

kiowamohican: I do agree with a lot of what you say but I home you're wrong about our future.

Just last night I got a call from someone doing a survey on Wisconsin about how we should approach a variety of economic issues. One of the questions contained a choice of whether or not we should be asking for a federal bailout. Start making cuts in governement spending first. Increase state taxes for a fixed amount of time. I'm not one for raising taxes but cutting spending alone will not fix this. If it means a higher than normal tax rate for a few years then so be it. This borrowing from Peter to pay Paul business has to stop. Unfortunately the wrong person was elected to do this.

woodsman: There ya go again blaming Bush. One person could not have accomplished this mess by himself. Our Congress over the last few years has failed us also. Let also look back at when the deregulation started taking place...........Oh' yes under CLINTON. You are a very ignorant person to believe that one man could do this much damage. Go ahead keep your head in the sand.

What a bunch of crap. Let them fail. Maybe if they declare bancruptcy they could come back as a smaller version of what they are now. With any luck they might also get metter management.

I'm sick of my money bailing out these companies that I'm not going to see a dime from. They made poor business decisions that let them to where they are now.

What a load of crap.

ski1357: GM employs 266,000 world wide. I understand there are companies that build parts for GM but to say there is more than 800,000 is doubtful. Millions?? Where do you get your info? At least I can tell you the amount GM employs.

*

whatever536: I don't wish that GM would close but this is how our economic system works. If you make crappy business decisions you should pay for them not the tax payers. I also understand that if they were to close it could be devestating to our economy but we have to draw a line somewhere. If we keep letting government bail all these failing companies out, are we not becoming a socialist nation?

woodsman & gilly: Why would you support such a crappy company? I had a GM vehicle that cost be over $3500 on a transmission that they would not help me with because it was 1500 miles over the warrantly. What a bunch of crap, stand by your product, it wasn't 50,000 over the warranty. In my opinion the only GM product worth buying is a Buick. Buick is the only car that can keep up with the imports in quality and reliability. As for your ignorant comments about Jap cars, that was wrong. Those companies are employing thousands of Americans while our American car companies are probably going to be letting 200,000 workers go if they go belly up. Do you even know how much of the parts in your prescious GM cars are made over seas? I'm fairly certain there are many parts that are not manufactured in the US that go into your cars. I understand that we should try to buy American when possible but they have not given us a good reason with the crap that they produce. Quit picking on "Jap" cars because they are simply a better vehicle.

Let's all convict the teachers even though they don't know where it came from. I'm sure it couldn't have been a student that just walked in or a custodian, right?????? C'mon, quit with the teacher bashing already. I'm not thrilled to hear about it either but society can't keep running around convicting people before anything is proven.

As for drug testing...can it be required of public employees? Maybe it is just something in the union contract.
