On What to do with dandelions

Posted on May 23 at 1:10 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Unfortunately, unless you create some type of City ordinance to cover killing of weeds( dandelions).... Of course that's ridiculous!... You will always have people who simply don't care what their lawns look like. You can call it laziness, lack of concern or simply a who cares attitude.. it's a free country and they can do what they want with their lawns, as long as its mowed. There is a city ordinance for that.
By the way I do try to maintain my lawn so its dandelion free.

This is another example of how the President has lost controll over how the government's operational system is working, As a result he is forced into a mode of coverup damage controll. He has said on many occassions that the buck stops with him. The house and senate should move to have him fired just like in the real world.

On A few thoughts on election results

if you're looking at disppointments. The Gazette's endorsement of Sam Liebert was a real disppointment.

When they endorsed him they said(paraphrasing)
Although Mr liebert exhibited signs of immaturity and partisanship, because he is young and Afro-American we are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt

Shame on the gazette for this endorsement

The Gazette ignored Duwayne Severson who was the second highest vote getter. He did a great job on the Council. They didn't even have the common courtesy to even acknowledge the man's contribution.

On whole I am delighted with the election of Marklein, Fitzgerald and Severson.

Congratulations to Marklein, Fitzgerald and Severson. With those three on the Council, I really like most of the makeup of the Council.
The only reason Sam Liebert was elected was the endorsement of the Gazette...despite his immaturity, miistakes in judgement and partisanship we will give Sam the benefit of the doubt because he is young an African American.
What a shame because their were two other candidates that would have served Janesville better.
Any way he won't be much of factor becuase his left wing liberal view points will be cancelled out by the strength of the rest of the council members

On A few thoughts on teacher contracts

Posted on March 25 at 9:48 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

As long as the Janesville school teachers are lead by Dave Paar I have to assume that they are the most arrogant, self centered group of indivduals I have ever seen.
I believe that the majority of our school teachers a good hard working indivudals. However they are not any better than most good hard working people who work at other jobs. They don't deserve special treatment.
It's time we takee a hard line position with them.Negotiate in good faith and make them an offer that is fair and reasonable. If they don't accept it then tell them that their jobs are no longer secure. There is an unimited supply of indivduals who have or will have teaching degrees that want to work under a fair and reasonable contract.
We don't need a teachers Union. We need teachers who want to be treated like the majority of us who work. You are paid for performance and it is not guaranteed. You need to pay your representative share for health and retirement benfits like everybody else. Youe benefit package will be in line who every oneelse in this country who works. You are not going to revered for what you do. You will be simply respected for what you do. Just like everybody else

On City economic development official resigns

Posted on March 18 at 8:14 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I don't know the reason why Vic resigned. he will be missed.
The City Manager is already talking about not hiring an Econominc Development Director. Taking his responsibilities and dividing them up among other staff members. What is he thinking? This is one of the most important jobs for Janesville growth. You couple that with a terrible looking downtown and a waterfront that offers no attarction and you get a community with little to no grwoth prospects.

We have done a poor job in attracting serious businesses to Janesville( believe me not Vic's fault). Ouiside of Shine technologies the City, Rock County 5.0 and Forward Janesville have accomplished nothing in terms of bringing in a major employer into Janesville. I know they have had many inquiries but no takers. WHY?
One opportunity they are not focusing on is the opportunity to build a Bio-tech Park. You have Northstar in beloit and Shine technologies comming into Janesville. This is a no brainer.. start reaaching out to affliated type companies. You can begin to change the face of Janesville . Right now we are nothing more than a down trodden manufacturing company ruled by unions. What company wants to relocate to a community like that.
I think Vic was disgusted with half a__ attempts by all parties concerned.
We need to turn Janesville around with a serious strategies for reconstruction and revitalization of the downtown and the development of the waterfront. The city and the powers at be have played lip servcie to both. It can be done you just have to commit time and resources. Until this happems and until we turn our attention to a market waiting for us to go after it(bio-tech) Janesville will never reach it's full potential. It does have potential

John

You should be ashamed of yourself. You portray your support of "we the people". To you that means We the "LEFT WING LIBERAL" people. These are the people you aspire to.
Guess what John not everyone is a left wing liberal.
I applaud Our Governor, Scott Walker ( not Scott). Thanks to him we have a surplus. Thanks to him our state is finally on sound financial footings.
John you can disagree but at least do it with some class, dignity and respect
