As a provider, I think YoungStar has improved my family child care. Actually, much of it I was already doing. On the other hand, some if it is just hoops and "playing the game" and not all 4 or 5 stars are any better than my 3 star. I can't say there's much incentive for family providers. The grant money is nice but that won't continue. In the end it just costs us more and more and I know I'm not getting paid more. Centers benefit from higher W2 rates but family providers just don't have the numbers of kids in attendance to make a different in pay. Providers should participate, it does improve your center. It starts with attitude and I do think some providers should be more open to improvement. We can all improve.

Username_goes_here - your child care closed do to regulation issues? Youngstar requirements are above that of licensing. Centers should be meeting licensing regulations or they should close if they can't.
