A 12-year-old boy attempted to "urinate on staff". Wouldn't that be like clapping one hand. I think of all the body parts you could urinate on, your staff would be the most difficult.
On Were Mercury Marine workers thinking about Janesville, GM?

I have seen both sides of the coin as a worker. As a worker this is how I determined if I would stay at a job. "Do I have a better alternative that improves bottom line?" If the answer was no, I bit my tongue and sucked it up. If it was yes, I gave my two weeks, worked hard up until the last minute of my last day, shook some hands, told a few jokes, and was on my way to bigger and better things. I cannot say right or wrong what someone does as long as its legal. That was their right to vote no. I just hope they have a Plan B, because Merc Marine is soon to enact Plan C you later.

I see where the governments heart was at in this program, and as it was intended it was a success. I am not going to pull a party card, but I don't feel the government on any level has the right to reward/punish citizens who fall into certain micro programs. I question what the true cost of all the recent spending will cost ALL taxpayers in the future. I don't think we have this money in a drawer somewhere, and I would like to see an amortization of it to see how much $4500 today costs us when/if the money is taken out of the red. If this program works so well, why not give people 25$ for every $100 in groceries. You could also have credit where when you buy new tires for your car, you buy three, the government buys one. I am not going to say the word, but what the government is doing is not capitalism.

Seriously. Their religion by any other name would be torture. People hiding behind God has got to stop. Her parents let her die. There is a new fad called science, it has gotten some press over the last 500 years, I recommend people check it out. Having this trial in central Wisconsin is a plus for the defendant. If he is acquitted, I can only imagine the new "religions" popping up.
"My God told me to molest kids, I did not want to let my God down." "My God told me to shoot this guy for his wallet, because my God felt I needed to go to Ho Chunk."
I can already hear it now.
On Depression - WHY don't politicians tell the TRUTH?!
Posted on August 1 at 8:04 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
I guess the recession vs. depression argument boils down to perception. Like any administration, the current one will take credit for any glimmers of positive, while blaming existing problems on old policies. I believe parts of the country, like the "oit" cities, Detroit and Beloit are in Depressions. You cannot fake unemployment numbers and overall dismal economic indicators. I think Janesville is well on its way towards a depression once the GM leftovers are done and the crumbs are all that remain. To lump the whole country into one depression filled basket is not fair either. I think we are at the breaking point, we either start slowly improving, or the nicer Wall Street numbers that don't relate to job numbers take another nosedive down in the 6000's. I don't think (hope) that will happen. This is going to be a long slow climb. For the anyone to predict victory by the end of 2009 is playing mind games with the People as well as themselves. We were a country that was recently propped for many years by a artificial housing boom. We are now depending on the government to use our money to give to certain people as incentives to spend money. I question the principle in doing so, and if printing money seems to be the answer, why not send every citizen $100,000 dollars in cash? I am scared about how much money is being sent into the economy. I think we are spending porcelain money that with the slightest road bump, could come crashing down on top of the house of cards that is currently supporting the economy.

greengina8: Concerning these "barrels" of nuclear waste, the U.S. needs to reprocess its waste to extract even more clean energy. The small remaining material is turned into a stable glass log, this is done through the vitrification process. We can then "stimulate" the economy and build a waste storage site in Adams County, it would be an improvement. 20% of the countries power comes from nuclear. Solar is o.k. for residential applications, high initial expense. Wind. Are you kidding me, greengina8, where does the power come from when the wind stops blowing. You cannot store power from a large wind turbine. On a cloudy day with no wind, one might reconsider the red headed stepchild that is nuclear.
