Beeferer, whoaaaaa slow down! You bring something informative to the table instead of the usual "slowdown" comment. Good work supporting my comment. Keep up the progress.
On Competing needs: Milton could need new school, fire station, public works building

I agree with Outdoor. Redrawing the lines sends a massive amount of kids into the Janesville Schools. Let them deal with the new school. Why bus kids so far? A smaller, more focused school district would be much more of a draw to the community. Use the resources we have and build on the quality of the education system as opposed to stretching to meet the basics with blown budgets and expanded administration. Then let the parents that want their kid to go to Milton, and live outside the lines pay for the choice.

Graft, have you thought about teaming with the UW to create an alternative to the Chinese engines? Since small engines are notorious polluters, a clean, quiet engine would be a breakthrough that people may be ready for. For this to work you must have equal performance, product life, replacement parts, and cost. Future taxes on gas related to auto travel, and pollution guidelines may be the boost you need. There may even be a way to team a product like this with tax credits and incentives to sweeten the deal. We know you like those!

Thank you, Brett, for posting that. You have a good head on you. You do not need to know all of the "right" answers, rather you need to make every attempt to make informed decisions in the interest of the Milton residents. I, for one, would have faith you would do that. I can appreciate someone that does not agree with me on all issues. Good luck, you will do fine.

I have posted a reply to Miltonalum here:

The page above is easier for people to find. It also has the complete story.

Regarding the flippant remarks by Miltonalum: http://gazettextra.com/weblogs/latest-ne...
You may be an acquaintance of Brett, but that does not mean you know anything about his political aspirations, knowledge base, or skills. I say acquaintance because if you were a friend you would not be so cruel. Everyone must start at the beginning. Edgerton's mayor is in his mid-20's. Vice-President Biden was the 5th youngest Senator ever when he decided to run in the early 70's. This week, Michael Bennet became the youngest Senator among the oldest Senate in history. My point? My point is how dare you chastise this young man for attempting to do what you thought about doing (Miltonalum's comment on _Milton Short A Candidate_,"what are the requirements for candidacy? anyone? gazette?", January 7, at 7:23 p.m) doing, were encouraged to do (http://gazettextra.com/weblogs/latest-ne...). You must see things differently looking out from your glass house. At least you called your own card correctly.

part 2
You stated, well, it speaks for itself:
"i wondered how long it would take for someone to say put my money where my mouth is and go register. I am not fluent enough with politics to put myself in a position to make decisions for this city and i recognize that, sure i could go fill out a form and register but would i be any good to my community in that position? no i havent spent the time researching or looking into it to make a rash decision based on a newspaper article. Yes i know brett and he is a decent person i suppose but he is definately NOT the person for this job, just as i am not. I am intelligent enough to recognize what my city needs and its not someone unqualified, in fact im dissappointed that the gazette came out with this article, we would be better off if the mayor had appointed someone qualified.."
After reading that I had three thoughts. First, you will make an excellent voter. Second, I would tend to give Brett the upper hand in your comparison of you and him based on my experiences with him while in college, his willingness to step up to run for this vacant seat, your rudeness, and your views. The third thought arose from reading all of your comments on various stories. In particular the one where you chide the Gazette for a spelling error ("oh yeah and gazette should use spellcheck before posting articles, its spelled snoWmobile, not snomobile." Posted on December 31 at 10:08 p.m.). I had to laugh. Again, you stand in your glass house lobbing bricks at others. The words "spell" and "check" are to be separated by a space. While so busy trying to point out the Gazette's mistake, you made your own. Also, how about the your post regarding Brett (quoted in prior paragraph)? Did you forget something? Spell check, caps on the start of a sentence, the pronoun "I" should be in caps, missing commas, missing apostrophes, double periods, unnecessary emphasis using CAPS, and run-on sentences plague your paragraph. No one cares about this in a blog, until you present yourself as "intelligent enough" to call out Brett and the Gazette. This man stepped up to run for a spot that you did not. You have share no evidence to back your defamatory comments about him other than we are to take your words indicating you "know him" and he is not right for this position. Please, other than the fact he is younger than you are, share with us why this well educated person should not be allowed to partake in local government. Caution, before you answer, read the rules for the Gazette's blogs. With that said, I will take your silence as affirmation that you will vote your way and let other people vote their choice based on the presence, or absence of facts rather insinuations.

I respect the fact they are not talking to an atty. Sure, they may have a case, but it does not mean that is always the best route to go. I applaud the family for not trying to cash in and instead using the incident to educate the public, the company, and their daughter. The public needs to know to be aware. The company needs to protect itself, but also be more responsive to their customers. The daughter and the public gain the most when they see that there are respectable ways of handling things like this; even in a litigious society.
