On Vaccine shortage has health officials asking residents for patience

The long version:
So these are the people you want to run Health Care?
My point is that the bureaucratic Health and Human Services assured us in July that there would be plenty of vaccine available by October 15th. There were not enough manufacturers on line and those that produced the vaccine warned of delays in producing the quantity required. Instead of taking appropriate and timely action, Health and Human Services hoped for the best.
This is the same bureaucratic nightmare we will face with government run health care.

On Vaccine shortage has health officials asking residents for patience

It was predicted last spring that H1N1 would become a problem in the fall. With a head start like that we get.... a shortage of vaccine.
So these are the people you want to run Health Care???
On Which intersection do you think is the most dangerous in Janesville?

After years of study, delay, and frontage roads required by Wal Mart in building at the 'new, location what has been accomplished is the most dangerous intersection in town. WOW!
I recall at the time that a D grade intersection was one that traffic had to wait more than 30 -35 seconds. Much hanky wringing was done over this point.
Go south on Jackson Street to the intersection of Jackson and Milwaukee. If you catch the light just turning red, it will be red for 45 seconds. What grade is that?

On How good will the Milwaukee Brewers be at the end of baseball’s regular season?

Pitching wins in the end. Unless someone is picked up or Gallardo and Parra perform above expectations the Brew Crew will miss the playoffs, but not by much.
btw coyote, it's not like anyone is forcing you to pay attention to baseball. Some care, you don't. whoopee!
On 'Coupon Lady' has shopping down to a science

While I am not as focused as Tania, I do use coupons regularily. One of my strategies is to use coupons on things I buy anyway. Using coupons for things I don't normally buy is not saving anything.
Every now and then you can combine a coupon with a sale and the amount is a plus to you. In a sense the store 'pays you to take it off their hands'. (example: store sale price is $1.79, your coupon is for $2.00, You gain 21 cents.)

Two council members expressed a concern about beer sales.
Why is this a concern? Over the years Janesville has lost a lot of tourist and local dollars due to this utopian view of beer.
Somewhere in the political psyche of the city hiarchy is this concept that children should be shielded from people drinking beer.
This in a town where weddings, Packer parties, family get-togethers, and graduation parties all occur regularily and there are adults drinking beer in front of children at almost every one of them.
Where has this attitude toward beer taken us?
We don't have the Snappers. 4th of July at Traxler park loses money because of the rope maze involved in obtaining beer.
I, like many others, spend a lot of time at Beloit's events. Music at Harry's place, The Snappers, Riverfest, and the downtown Summer Party all serve beer. I don't go because they serve beer, which I seldom drink, but because of a certain atmosphere that accompanies a place where people are free to have fun.
The problem with the city government is the fear that someone is having fun and drinking beer without city oversight.
On Halbach won't face felonies

You have to admire Jim Halbach who seeing that the horse was dead ('mee mees) traded it for a plea bargain and walked away. Thus ends the Williams-Halbach fued that started over a denied liquor license all those years ago.
I notice a lot of moralizing in the previous posts. Businesses respond to a demand. No demand, no business. Maybe the place to start is to dry up the demand for these kinds of clubs/establishments.

Janesville is NIMBY town. Everyone wants the latest technology, I see people on cell phones everywhere, yet the battles to get a cell tower up are legend. How about that TV channel for Janesville? It's in Madison now because the 'Not In My Backyard' crowd prevailed.
Taking a cue from the billboard company that put up electronic billboards before making a public proclamation, AT&T wisely started the project before attracting the NIMBY's.
In Janesville it's better to seek forgiveness than ask permission.
There was a time when people were enamored by progress, and would be proud if some item of technology was placed near them.
Then there is Ted Kinnaman.

On Case Feed building to come down

I sense an uproar from Andrea Briarmoon.
This was not only Case Feed, but the first grocery store in Janesville. It's a shame that it has been allowed to deteriorate to the point that it must be torn down.
