On Airport looks at commuter flights for GM workers

Do you really think people want to commute? Do you really think they want to stay in Janesville? People! we have houses to sell, that are not selling! We have built our home here - so yes, weekend or monthly commutes are needed for our sanity-When you have lived your life with a company many are not going to give up their seniority for the City of Janesville-They are getting our taxes on the homes that are sitting empty or half empty since your other half of your family is living in a different State! So we do what we have to until our house sells, or our children graduate, or we get all our matters in order because believe it or not the families who are going through this are thinking of their families - not the City of Janesville or the State of Wisconsin's loss or the uptight people who have this hatred for GM and the Union workers.

My husband is in Arlington. I am in Wisconsin. There are many families like mine. Do any of you understand how hard this is on the families who are affected. I haven't logged on and read these articles because of the attitudes of the people in this city. I only read it because my husband told me about the article. We would love to be able to fly into Rockford, and I think it is a great idea for those workers in Kansas who still have family here. I feel sorry for all you people who carry such hate in your hearts for GM families. To all my GM families-May God bless you all-I for one understand your stress, your tears-I just don't understand the majority of the people in Janesville
On Janesville workers take GM buyout

I can't speak for all GM employees, but those I do know do not think they are any better than you-the person who chose to go into the service, or work for another company or go to school, or take a buyout that a COMPANY offered them, not the UAW. It is all about choice. We, the GM employees are the ones who made the choice to leave a hometown to provide for themselves and their family. We, the GM employees are the ones who have families split 8 to 16 hours away so they can provide and survive in this economy, with hopes that they can live together as a family soon again. They made the choice-do you see them complaining-they do what they have to and they do not look back, they look forward. Don't bash the GM employee for making a choice based on what is offered to them. Unknown, you chose to be a Marine-Thank you for serving our Country-now maybe you should change your attitude toward people, toward a government you chose to defend and do something productive.

I just don't understand how rude people can be on these blogs. A child physically gags on certain solid foods-she finally discovers the texture of a snack food in which she can eat without gagging - eventually, she may learn other foods as she grows older - don't cut down the parents for giving their child something that works for now - its all about learning and trusting. Plus someone does something nice at a local grocery store and that person gets reemed for being nice. What is wrong with our world today!
On Jobs are good for laid-off GM workers, but exodus is bad for city

There are many companies out there that offer their employees a relocation allowance. Why is it when GM does this it is bashed around. Do you know how expensive it is to actually relocate? Do you think it is something that GM families want to do? You do what you have to do in order to survive. Good luck to all those families moving to Kansas as well as many families who have and are moving to Texas. We are one of them-I will miss my family and friends-but when you are given an opportunity to keep the seniority you have worked hard for, you do what you have to do. So, people just concentrate on your own life and leave those who have decided to make a change alone and just stop all the bashing.

I agree that making Milwaukee & Court a two way road is a bad idea. I actually would avoid driving downtown if that happened. I'd use the interstate to get from one side of town to the other, as this would cause a traffic mess. They should just leave it alone.

On GM employees get official word

I didn't read that the plant was closing . . . all it said was "Local General Motors’ employees learned officially this morning that production of full-size sport utility vehicles will end in Janesville on Dec. 23" I still have hope for the GM plant and Janesville that there will be another product. If that doesn't happen, then we will just have to travel down a different path. We need more positive energy in this town-and from what I read it is only coming from the GM Workers and those who are supportive of them. I pray all those who see this as the end of the road and are happy about it, will grow up and get on with their own life-you probably have your own struggles to deal with. For everyone else - I pray that you are successful in whatever path you take to provide for yourself and your family-and I pray that GM will be a part of that plan.

It takes money to raise a family. So, to say that you are moving away from your life just because of "the money" is a bunch of hogwash-it is about your family. I honestly believe the working families who were Janesville GM Employees are moving away to "support their families" so lets see . . . sitting around collecting unemployment until it runs out or going to school to get a job to support your family, or making the choice to move with a company you may feel will give you an opportunity to continue supporting your family is yes about money, it is about survival and yes it is for your family - to me they go hand in hand. Not all GM workers are going after the signing bonus - which if that was the only motivator there would be more people leaving Janesville. The motivator in our case is survival. Yes, kids understand more than us adults are giving them credit, they will adapt to change better than we are-we can't judge another families reasons for moving or staying.
