this is Derek's mother and first of all I would like to say to "nothinbetter2do" that I am very truly sorry to hear that you had to bury a child. just know that the pain you experienced I am feeling too. You weren't there, and neither was I. anyway I dont need to explain the whole story. There was miscommunication with the fire marshall, I have nothing but respect for him from the bottom of my heart and depth of my soul, I want him to know that. The comments that hurt me were the makeshift and dimestore items used at my sons vigil, and I want them to know how deeply it was appreciated that they came to show their respect. and you can believe me "nothinbettertodo" that material items mean absolutely nothing to me, I would live with absolutely nothing if I could just hold my baby in my arms again, but I do not want your sympathy nor your hurtful statements, although I am hurt, I am not mad at you I can understand where you are coming from. you can say what you want you have that right as well as I do. and to the media and all those giving my children support there are no words I can give you to know how greatly appreciated it all is. my love and prayers go out to all of you and your families. and I apologize for any miscommunication but I hope you can all understand that this is a very stressful time for us all and things may get taken the wrong way. Truly from the bottom of my heart I apologize, take care.

i have read all the comments comming from the outsiders who dont kno the family or wut they r goin thru... u all say u do but u only have a slight IDEA!! i would like 2 say thanks 4 goin out of ur way 2 type an inapropriate comment 2 the family or about the family as if they asked 4 ur opinions that dont matter... of course every1 would want 2 go back in time n change things 2 avoid somethin esspecially such a tragedy, but nobody expects it 2 happen and r NEVER ready 4 things like this! this is reality we all would do things differently thats y we r all created DIFFERENTLY!! but they dont need anybody tryin 2 critize or put them down they lost enough! all they want is family and their children!!!! material stuff doesnt matter but it helps right now! i am part of the family i am with them everyday n they dont need 2 read comments from ppl that dont kno them or the real situation... u only read articles u werent there n u dont kno so plz just keep the rude comments n opinions to urself... so b4 u feel the need to leave a comment just think of wut THEY r really goin thru! THANKS
