On Rock County turnout appears to be high

I went to the polls, showed my ID, signed my name and voted. It was very quick and simple. Don't most people need an ID for many other things, too? Unless you're up to mischief, what's the big deal?

Great idea newswacko! Then super-size it and put it into the old Menard's building! The path of commercial development in Janesville is puzzling to say the least.

On Former Menards location has been vacant since 2008

Posted on January 9 at 11:06 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

If I remember correctly, Walmart had to establish a reuse for their Milton Ave. property as one of the hoops they had to jump through to get their permits for their Deer field Dr. store. Why wasn't Menard's subjected to the same conditions? A propety of this size and prominence that stays vacant for such a long time is just plain blight!

On Janesville schools to cut German

There is neither time nor money for our public school system to take care of all learning opportunities. The basics, as they relate to paving the way for success in todays's world, have to be prioritized. Beyond that, I see possibilities for private enterprise. Yes, parents would bear a cost for this, but many seem to find the means to provide other types of lessons and sports for their kids if it seems important enough.
