On Janesville therapist suspended for inappropriate relationship

Look him up on the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing website...yes it was at Crossroads, but they had the good sense to fire him immediately. People like him give therapists/counselors a bad name. Clients are vulnerable people that go for help and that's why therapists have ethics saying very clearly that no matter what, you cannot have a sexual relationship with a client for 2 years after you stop seeing them professionally.

On Center's closing will leave some families searching for child care

The reason that only those four employers could use the facility is because those places payed the subsidy...and they provided significantly cheaper care for kids. In order to stay open, the county would have had to pick up a very large chunk of the subsidy, which as we all know was not going to fly in the budget this year.
I'm very sad that they are closing, my daughter LOVES every one of her teachers there.

I am one of the parents that was worried about my 5 yr old yesterday afternoon, calling from work and trying to figure out what was going on. I heard about it and was scared to death. She walks to her sitters house one block away. Honestly, I'd rather that I was scared for the amount of time instead of finding out that the police didn't do their job and something tragic happened. Are people that incapable of looking at the positive of things?

On New hospital will not offer inpatient psychiatric treatment

Unidentified...you do have a point. I understand that Mercy needs to make money in order to stay open, but then I would like them to say that in their comments, rather than saying that "Mercy isn't for everyone" They tiptoe around the issue, while I know for fact that the minute they hear the patient does not have insurance, it's pretty much an automatic "refer to the county" situation

Let's look at the fact that Mercy rarely takes uninsured people either...that is a big part of the issue. People who are hospitalized through the county often do not have insurance and Mercy historically will not make any type of agreement for hospitalizing uninsured people. And for the record, Mercy CAN take people that are involuntarily detained.
On Mercy, county discuss mental health crisis

Is everyone aware that Mercy Hospital has mental health facilities on their 5th floor? They also have detox facilities too....but since most of these people don't have insurance, Mercy will not consider admitting them. Therefore, they are being forced to be transferred to Madison or Oshkosh for hospitalization. I wish that Mercy would find a way to work with the county to provide services for these people. The minute Mercy finds out there is no insurance, they immediately call the Crisis workers. I guess I thought that Mercy had an obligation to the community as well??

I do agree that this man is someone that should not be let out into the community, BUT there are still laws/restrictions regarding people who have a mental illness. There are people right now out in the community that are out on a NGI (not guilty by reason of insanity) that you do not know about. By law, they have to find the least restrictive placement for a person. Life in a mental hospital is not always the sentence, it most often is until that person can be deemed no longer a risk to public safety. I'm not arguing against this particular case, just some info that many do not know. Someone had noted that the potential placements all have rights whether or not to accept Mark, and as you can see, none will at this time, thus forcing the hand of the judge to keep him institutionalized.
