On School board to decide snow day makeup

just some "fun" info....With the exception of last winter, and so far this past December, in the schhol years prior, Janesville cancelled classes once in eight years. Yes, I said 1 snow day in 8 years. That is why there is only one snow day in the calendar. When the calendar was being figured out, they looked at past years, because they didn't have the magic jeanie with them to tell them what winters in the future would be like.

We have to make this day up, and any others after this. The calendar allows for one snow day, and that was last week on Tuesday.

For those of you criticizing the Janesville District- Yes cars and buses could get around this morning. Late morning was a different story. Many sidewalks were very slippery, and the majority of school aged children walk. Many teachers live in various outlying communities, such as Madison (where they got 7 in of snow), as well as smaller communities where the only way to get to Janesville is on county roads that will be drifted over by 4pm today. I commend our district for thinking of the safety of its students and staff. Will we have more snow days? Maybe, and yes, this was our one "freebie". At least this year we have time between the end of the school year and summer school so there will be no Saturday make up days! Just be grateful that our school aged children, as well as our commuting staff members were safe today.

Really? You think owning a pet is as cheap as just the food? We have an 8 year old lab, and we spend $45 a month on food, plus monthly flea and tick treatments, and three times this year alone we have paid between $200-$300 for vet visits that included yearly checkups, bloodwork, an emergency visit, etc. We love her to death, and to us she is worth every penny, but I can understand how some families that are going through financial woes would find it hard to budget for such expenses.

yep-that's exactly why thngs "didn't get done". Because he is a relative of a district employee. Please, people give me a break. Do you realize how many district employess are related to each other? That has nothing to do with this.

So letting him go will help move things along? Tell me how that makes any sense, because I am confused.
