Canning is "relatively" easy, but does take some time. I just canned 7 pints of salsa, and will do up some tomatoes in the next couple of weeks. Also I have grape vines to make jelly - that I usually give away since there is so much!

Unbelievable. They lost 175 kids since September. Why? "We dunnno. We counted before and when we counted again, it was 175 less." The article for Milton was pretty much the same. Apparently the actual details of why the enrollment is down really isn't that big of a deal to the so called "officials". Kids come, and they go. We really don't pay too much attention, until they make us count them.

The school district doesn't have the reason children are leaving the schools? How can you "lose" 27 students and "guess" it's because of plant closings. Don't records have to be transferred to another school if they moved? How many just dropped out of high school? I would think the district would keep track of these little details. Hopefully the got the count right, since they are required to count twice a year.

Just got back from Stoughton, at least 12 cars in the ditch once I hit the Rock county line. At hwy 26 interchange there is a pickup on it's side in the middle with the windshield knocked out. It's not bad if you keep it a little slower.

Whew, glad those new I90 traffic cams were installed! 5 of the 7 cameras in Rock county are still showing pictures from yesterday. Whoohoo! Lotta good that does!

Another note, there are probably 120-140 hospitals in WI. Thats about 5-6 people per day at each hospital. Wow, 5-6 people getting free service can bankrupt a hospital. Amazing.

A friend had a seizure 2 months ago. Laid off, unemployment ran out, no insurance. He was in the hospital 9 days, mostly on I.V. fluids. No major tests, just the routine Xrays, catscans, etc. His bill is over $40,000 - for 9 days in the hospital. This is going to become very commonplace this next year.
