lakennedy...I was serious about you running for city council. As I stated in my first post... We need more members who will listen to us. You sound like you know what you are talking about. Just an opinion, not an insult.

Yes I have been to a few council meetings and that is how I based my "opinion" of Amy Losching. I also do not agree that this should go through without a referendum. That we can agree on. But I do have a right to voice my opinion about the members as I see it. You see it as an insult. I see it as an opinion. By the way, why don't you run for city council??

Amy Losching is on a power trip!! She jumps in to run everything. We need more council members like Tom McDonald who actually care what we think.

tnimmo...When did you become all high and mighty? Maybe you should stick to the summer school homework that will help you achieve the diploma you did not get with the rest of your class. Maybe another spelling class would be appropriate!!

I agree with what most people are saying, it is the responsibility of both parents and teachers to educate our youth. However, I think people need to know how these scores our determined. For example, if you have a student who scored "Basic" in reading is ELL, has a learning disability, and is considered low socioeconomically that Basic score counts against the school 3 times. Scoring and determining a "school in need" is not as simple as this student scored high and this student scored low. Not to mention that according the NCLB law ALL students must score proficient or advanced by a certain year. This is statistically impossible!

Irishgirl It's no wonder we have problems with students not responding to adult directives. They argue and believe they are always "victim" never taking responsibility for their own actions. When adults cop the attitude that you have about isolated incidents and want people to believe that is the norm, it just shows your ignorance. You are talking about a personal issue and it does not reflect the policies at most schools regarding discipline. Maybe having that child take responsibility for their own actions and realizing that all actions have consequences would be a better deterent.

If the Gazette was able to obtain all this wonderful information by simply making some phone calls, why is it nessecary to send 4 council members to Arizona at our expense??
