On BTC instructor says he acted correctly when he removed student

Posted on May 18 at 9:29 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

If a student is disruptive, displaying violent or hostile behavior, and refuses to leave after being asked to I don't see a problem with the instructor physically removing them. I don't understand how a state statute that says "a student who is dangerous, unruly or disruptive may be removed from a class" doesn't apply to a college student. I do think the Gazette should inform the public of what the proper procedure is.

On Walker signs work share bill

No one should receive unemployment if they are still working even if their hours are reduced. It's not like they don't have any income whereas if they're laid off or their job is eliminated they don't have an income.

On Janesville Ground Round closes doors

Ground Round was expensive and the food wasn't all that great. Janesville needs more independent non-chain restaurants. I miss Roherty's I used to go there all the time great food and service for a decent price and there was enough variety on the menu to chose from not limited items that so many chains have.

On Janesville high school students to have longer days

High school doesn't prepare you for college life it's completely different one more reason to be thankful for being done with Janesville Schools; kids in extra curricular activities, sports, and/or jobs will have to reduce their participation because of changes such as this.

On State Assembly approves junk food stamps bill

Posted on May 8 at 1:49 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

For those who support the bill....

1. you most likely have never used food stamps
2. eat more junk food than the average food stamp recipent
3. are Republican
4. are ignorant but most likely uneducated regarding any social program
5. will be one who if ever at some point in their life will need food stamps will complain because they can't buy the junk they've been paying for
6. don't know what it's like to be judged based on a payment method rather than the person you truly are.
7. don't know the stories behind the reason people receive benefits much less care
8. don't realize many receiving benefits are elderly on fixed incomes who may spend the $10 they get a month on a special meal they may not otherwise afford
9. may also utilize food banks which provides excessive amounts of junk food (more junk than nutritious foods)
10. Define junk food! Every person will have a different definition...therefore why should any person chose what another can/cannot purchase?

On State Assembly approves junk food stamps bill

It will not help create jobs.
To label organic foods, items such as soy and rice milk and brown eggs as junk food is irresponsible and plain stupid. This bill was rushed through without consideration to those who have special dietary needs due to allergies or those who have specialized diets which may include a vegan or vegetarian diet; are lactose intolerant, etc. Not everyone drinks milk; I don't so why force me to buy milk when it will go to waste? I'm wondering....can recipients still buy bottled water? Popcorn? Chips? Frozen dinners? Cookie dough? Ice cream? Candy? Cookies? How many obese Wisconsinites are NOT receiving food stamps???? To label food stamp recipients as the problem of obesity in the state is due to their grocery list is ridiculous. I have family members who are overweight and have never received food stamps. Not to mention a lot of non family members who are overweight and haven't received them. So why not ban all junk food in the state for everyone?

On Wisconsin committee to vote on junk food stamp bill

Posted on April 30 at 10:06 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Instead of wasting their time with something so frivolous they should do something to create jobs so people don't need food stamps. The problem isn't food stamps the problem is poverty and unemployment.

If anyone thinks that it's ALL recipients who buy junk food they're wrong. But it's okay they can go to food banks and get all kinds of junk food.

On U.S. News & World Report gives high marks to local schools

I wouldn't call the Janesville School District exceptional at all. My experience with JSD was horrible and I've talked to a lot of other parents who feel the same way. The district does nothing to control bullying, they degrade and label kids, and are uncooperative in keeping children with various medical issues caught up or even educated. And some kids don't feel safe in some schools. Janesville has no control and quite frankly, you cannot compare test scores from one year to the next because it's different students taking the test.
